Welcome to all our new Facebook listeners! We've recently started an advertising campaign on Facebook and our happy to see that lots of new listeners have joined us! Join our Planet Japan Believers Facebook group!

Apparently having sex is just too much trouble for some Japanese guys. Could this be why Japan's population is declining?

We've got an update on the two Greenpeace Japan members who were arrested for "stealing" some whale meat.

Speaking of unusual meat, Jen regales us with her tale of the time she found herself eating dogmeat. If she goes to the Olympics in Beijing, however, she won't have to worry about that. Dogmeat has been taken off the menu of most restaurants in the city for the duration of the games.

Eigo a Go Go is our new segment looking at English words that were borrowed from the Japanese language. This week it's "skosh," which comes from the Japanese word "sukoshi," meaning "a little bit" of something.

Our Dick of the Week honor goes to Donald Wildmon, the wacky president of the American Family Association. He's decided that McDonald's is way too gay and demanded that the dozens of AFA members boycott America's favorite burger joint in an effort to bring down the empire. Good luck with that. We also honor him for his OneNewsNow site, where godly software kindly replaces the word "gay" with the word "homosexual." Of course, if someone's name happens to be "Gay," the results can be downright amusing. And finally, Honorable Mention goes to the Department of Homeland Security, which is taking a look at "stun bracelots." All airplane passengers would be required to wear these fun little devices, just in case you're thinking of being a terrorist.

Our roving reporter, Lyric Prince, is headed back to the USA and so is reaching out to Planet Japan listeners in an effort to land a great job. Lyric can be reached at lyric.prince@yahoo.com.

We end the show with some music by an all-girls Japanese group called Zukanasi. The song is called SOS and is from their new CD, Zukana Sisters. You can find this song and lots of other great Japanese music at Jindies.com.

That's it for now.
We proudly annouce our new membership in the Church of Reality. Their motto: "If it's real, we believe in it."

Jen has the lowdown on the newest way to keep cool in Japan, complete with a USB connection!

There's a New Coke in town, or at least in Japan. It's Vita Coke, which allows you to drink guilt-free!

Lyric Prince, our roving correspondent, has a report on how to teach brownie-making to junior high kids.

Keiko Wakabayashi is Samurai Granny. Watch in delight and amazement as this 77-year-old Japanese woman kicks the crap out of Italian soldiers.

Congratulations to Japanese tourists for having been named the Best Tourists in the World!

Dogman, Japan's newest superhero, has been sent to the pound after robbing a convenience store.

Our Dick of the Week award goes to two United States senators for their spectacular hypocrisy.

Jazz the Cat, the official mascot of Planet Japan, now has his very own photographic gallery!

We end the show with a great song by a Spanish singer named IreneB. It's called "Forgive Me Now," and it's from her forthcoming album "Metamorphosis."

That's it for this week. Thanks for listening and tell your friends!

<itunes:author>Douglas DeLong</itunes:author><itunes:subtitle /><itunes:summary /><itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:block>no</itunes:block><itunes:duration>00:34:00</itunes:duration><itunes:keywords />

Ep 138: Mystery of the Secret Roommate

(Click PLAY Button to LISTEN NOW)

We start the show with a look at one of the strangest musical mismatches of all time, courtesy of Snopes.com.

Doug vents about what's happening to the building next to his apartment.

Japanese Greenpeace activists have been arrested for "stealing" whale meat after turning it over to the authorities as evidence of illegal black market activity.

A group of university students have come up with a really, really, really, really, really, really tiny noodle bowl.

A Tokyo man, wondering why his food kept disappearing, discovers the hidden reason.

Our Dick of the Week is a Catholic Archbishop who is having a hard time getting a handle on the whole concept of church and state separation. We hope we don't go to Hell.

Our Quote of the Week ("People of my age generally have shame, so they are very hesitant to show their private parts.") comes from a man who proves that you're never to old to be a porn star in Japan. Welcome to the wonderful world of "Elder Porn."

For those moms and dads who are worried that their young daughter might be tempted to have sex comes the perfect solution -- sweatpants with "True Love Waits" stenciled across the ass. Brought to you by the fine folks at K-Mart.

If you're worried that your dead Chinese grandmother might be in need of dainty underthings in the afterlife, you now can buy burnable paper versions which are guaranteed to drift up to Heaven.

The idiots who run Myanmar apparently believe that if they touch a woman's panties, they'll lose their power. Who knew? The folks at Panties for Peace know a powerful political tool when they see it, and are encouring women around the world to sacrifice a pair of their best panties by sending it the Burmese Embassy near them.

We close the show with a great tune by a Japanese group called JabBee. It's called Smilin' and is brought to you courtesy of Jindies.com, where you can find more music by JabBee and lots of other great Japanese groups.

That's it for now.
Jen and Doug both have exciting adventures on a train to regale you with. Hint: They involve killers and lesbians.

We offer a mea culpa about some bad information we passed on to our listeners. But it's not our fault.

A new "smoking manners" campaign from Japan Tobacco is designed to educated Japanese smokers about etiquette when puffing away.

The Chinese government and the Myanmar government respond to disaster in very different ways.

Our Dickette of the Week is Sharon Stone, who is learning about the true meaning of karma.

Our roving reporter, Lyric, weighs in on the cultural phenomenon known as the Sayonara Sale.

Our Quote of the Week comes from a Catholic Bishop who was not happy about what happened in a confession box.

We end the show with some music from a Japanese group called EEE (Triple E) and a song called Hero. Learn more about the group and download their music at Jindies.com.

Want to join in on the fun? Just go here, copy-and-paste Doug's email, and send it to all your friends.

We take a look at three rather unusual developments in the world of Japanese technology...

- Triumph International is well on its way to saving the planet with its new solar-powered bra.

- Cigarette vending machines in Japan will soon be using technology that will scan the customers face for wrinkles.

- Using the new QR code technology, people can now go to a cemetary and access information and images of the deceased on their cell phone.

And in penis news...

- Gary Kasparov, the former world chess champ, was recently attacked by a flying penis. Really. Here's the video...

- Don't have enough time to actually pee in your toilet? Now you can pee anytime with the new Super Pii Pii Bros.video game from Nintendo Wii. Really. Here's the video...

UPDATE: Color us embarrassed. It looks like we've been punked! There is no Super Pii Pii Bros. video game. It was just an April Fools Day prank perpetrated by the wackos at ThinkGeek. Too bad...I was ready to buy it!!

- And finally, if you're like me, you probably get pretty bored when you use a urinal. Now, thanks to a couple of Belgians, you can play video games while at the urinal, using your, uh, joystick.

Our favorite flasher, Asuka Sawamoto, was busted by the police after agreeing to demonstrate her flashing skills on Tokyo TV stations.

Our Dick of the Week is Eder Rojas, who showed a little creative flair when he wanted to protest his route assignment.

We close out the show with some great music from new album called Round and Round. It's a compilation album from the Far East Peach label. The song is called Naughtic and it's performed by Tom Hack.

That's it for this time. Tune in next week when we'll present a special interview edition of Planet Japan. Joe Black, an American National Guardsman stationed in Baghdad, recently visited Japan and sat down with us for a chat. See you then!

<itunes:author>Douglas DeLong</itunes:author><itunes:subtitle /><itunes:summary /><itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:block>no</itunes:block><itunes:duration>00:30:49</itunes:duration><itunes:keywords />

Ep 134: Please Don't Feed the Chunky Monkeys

(Click PLAY Button to LISTEN NOW)

We start the show with a story about cats that may or not be true and then introduce you to our new mascot, a beautiful Scottish Fold kitten named Jazz.

And speaking of porn, a woman in New Mexico is our Dickette of the Week, honored for her mistaken belief that her boyfriend was in the porno movie they were watching together.

In one of our rare sports reports, we take a look at a Japanese high school pitcher who, shall we say, didn't have his best day recently.

The Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco is putting an initiative on the ballot in November in an attempt to get a very special facility named in honor of George W. Bush.

Tourists are ignoring the "Do Not Feed the Monkeys" signs at a zoo in Osaka, resulting in some very chunky monkeys. Our friend Amy "Moooo" Chavez has retired from the show after almost 3 years. A big thanks (and a big "moooo") to Amy for her amazing contributions to Planet Japan! We wish her well in her new endeavors. A big thanks, also, to Junko Ogura for doing a spectacular job filling in for Amy the past few months!

Tonight we introduce our new co-host! Her name is Jen Biggers and she has been living and teaching in Japan for 10 years. She's a Texas girl who plays a mean shakuhachi (Japanese flute). We're looking forward to learning more about her and her experiences in Japan.

It looks like we can look forward to senior citizens patrolling the trains in Japan, looking for people demonstrating less than stellar manners.
